Research Center
The department’s research covers most of the important and advanced topics in materials science and engineering
with an emphasis on structure, properties, and processing of materials.
Each of the research topics is at the forefront of science and materials engineering, and research is often conducted in collaboration with industry, and with other scientists in Israel and abroad.
In addition to individual laboratories managed by faculty members, the department has established the Materials Research Center. The Materials Research Center manages several unique central laboratories, which provide use and service to faculty at the department, at the Technion, from other universities, and industry. These central laboratories include: The Electron Microscopy Center, The X-Ray Diffraction Laborator , The Laboratory for Physical Measurements, and the departments Machine Shop. In addition, staff from the various laboratories of the Materials Research Center support equipment at the Student Lab, which is primarily used for educating undergraduate students.
