The Titan Themis G2 60-300 )FEI / Thermo Fisher( is the world’s highest resolution commercially available Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM) and Scanning Transmission Electron Microscope (STEM) with a high-tension voltage range of 60-300kV, yielding sub-Ångstrom (atomic scale) imaging and analysis for a broad range of materials (metals, semiconductors, ceramics, polymers and organic materials).
The Themis is equipped with a system that corrects aberrations in the electromagnetic lenses for both TEM and STEM as well as a monochromator for energy resolution of less than 0.1 eV and a high-resolution energy filter for advanced Electron Energy Loss Spectroscopy (EELS), a high-resolution STEM system including a High Angle Annular Dark Field (HAADF), an Energy Dispersive X-Ray Spectroscopy (EDS) system for chemical composition analysis, and a rapid camera at 4K X 4K resolution.
In addition, the lab has purchased dedicated sample holders for in-situ experiments that allow to conduct real time dynamic experiments inside the microscope:
- A sample holder that allows heating up to 1300°C
- A sample holder that allows cooling down to liquid nitrogen temperature (-175°C).
- A sample holder that allows using liquids combined with electrochemical
