Our laboratory is specialized in Protein Materials and Mechanics (PMML). Our research interests are synthesizing, characterizing, and developing new smart bio-responsive materials based on globular proteins. Our lab is particularly interested in understanding the nanoparticles – protein interactions and their effect on the materials’ micro and macrostructures and translating these correlations in developing new smart biomaterials. Additionally, we are interested in using protein inherited properties such as their, structure, functionality, interaction with the environment, and (un)folding nano-mechanics in synthesizing novel protein-based materials, as well as investigate their mechanical and structural properties in different environmental conditions to pave the way for the development of new biomaterials.
