A new research group for advanced materials modeling has been established by Prof. Maytal Caspary Toroker at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the Technion. Some of the activities include the following:
A new conference on “Recent Advances in Computational Modeling for Energy Applications” was held on July 7th 2015 at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the Technion:
The conference was organized by Prof. Maytal Caspary Toroker and included the Israel local community that specialized in computational modeling in the fields of Materials, Physics, and Chemistry. The conference was sponsored by the Technion, Department of Materials Science and Engineering, The Grand Technion Energy Program, and SGI company. We anticipate that this will become a conference series that is usually held on July, and next year the event will take place in Tel-Aviv University (on July 6th, 2017).
Pollak lecture series on computational materials science: Prof. Gustavo Scuseria visited our department during the spring for delivering the distinguished Israel-Pollak lecture series:
New undergraduate courses and workshops:
- Introduction to computational materials science, course 315057
- Methods for analyzing materials behavior with computers, course 315058
- Matlab workshop for undergraduate studies will be given during spring break
